Summary

"The Nicest Girl in the School: A Story of School Life" by Angela Brazil is a story set in the early 1900s about Patty Hirst, a young girl who says goodbye to her family and prepares to face the unknown at Morton Priory, a boarding school for girls. As she gets ready to leave her loving home to begin school, she anticipates new experiences, but also recognizes she will greatly miss her family. When she arrives at the school, her new life isn’t what she expected, particularly due to how unwelcoming her cousin Muriel is, as well as her new roommates. As Patty deals with school, she makes friends and also enemies, works hard in her classes, and tries to fit in, all while dealing with being homesick as she tries to show how great she is during her adventures.

About the Author

In the first half of the 20th century she published nearly 50 books of girls' fiction, the vast majority being boarding school stories. She also published numerous short stories in magazines.
