"Pariah" by Stephen Marlowe is a science fiction story focused on Harry Allerton, a man who comes back to Earth following a three-year space mission to the shocking news that everyone thought that he was dead, and his wife has since remarried. The book is about dealing with who we are, where we belong, and how space can change our minds. We follow Harry on his journey to find his place again and how his wife, Nancy, has remade her life without him and finds that his three years in space were all for nothing as his family had moved on. Harry feels like he doesn't belong and realizes that he misses Nancy. He must learn to find happiness all while having to face the reality that he can never get back the time he lost as he is torn between the loneliness of space and the difficulties that come from being on Earth.
