"Missing" by Mrs. Humphry Ward is a story set in the time of World War I, showing the intertwined lives of sisters Bridget and Nelly Cookson and the troubles of love, family, and how war changes everything. Nelly has just married Lieutenant George Sarratt, who is going back to fight, and the sisters have different ideas about love, duty, and what society expects.
