Summary

"Everyman's Land" by C. N. (Charles Norris) Williamson and A. M. Williamson is a story set in the early 1900s about a nurse named Mary O'Malley. Mary thinks back on her life, her bond with her blind brother Brian, and how she got mixed up with the rich Beckett family after their son, Jimmy, died in a war. The book talks about love, giving things up for others, and how tricky people's relationships can be when war is all around. At the start, readers find Mary writing a letter to her dead dad, showing how sad she feels and how much she cares for Brian, who lost his sight in the war. Brian's positive attitude, even though he can't see, pulls readers into their world full of sadness and dreams that didn't come true. When Mary hears about Jimmy Beckett's death, she remembers a short romance they had before the war, which makes her feelings for the Beckett family and her own tough choices even more complicated.
