Summary

"Tales of Passed Times" by Charles Perrault is a set of old fairy tales from the 1600s. These stories, like "The Sleeping Beauty," "Little Red Riding-Hood," and "Cinderella," show the love of storytelling that people have had for many years. The tales teach lessons and have great characters, with themes such as love, bravery, and good winning against evil. To begin with, the story of "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood" tells of a King and Queen who wanted a child. After their daughter was born, seven fairies gave her magical gifts during her christening. However, an angry fairy who wasn't invited cursed the child, saying she would prick her finger and die. A kind fairy changed the curse so that she would sleep for one hundred years and then be woken up by a prince. This first story shows the magical, strange, and interesting stories to come in this series of fairy tales.
