"The Sensitive Man" by Poul Anderson is a science fiction story about Simon Dalgetty, a man with special mental abilities, who gets mixed up in a big fight against a secret group trying to take over the world. The story happens in the future in a place called Pacific Colony, which is underwater, and it's full of political secrets and sneaky plans. Early in the story, Simon sees some important people in a bar and figures out they plan to kidnap someone named Michael Tighe. Simon uses his mind powers to listen in and finds out Tighe is in danger and that a bad guy named Thomas Bancroft might be behind it all.
