"Rogue Psi" by James H. Schmitz is a science fiction book that came out in the early 1960s. It’s about when telepathy, super-advanced tech, and human problems all come together, focusing on how dangerous a telepath can be if they decide to use their mind-control abilities against everyone. The story throws us into Cleaver University, where Dr. Frank Harding and Arlene Rolf, a micromachinist, find themselves mixed up in government secrets and the looming threat of a telepath gone bad. Working with Dr. Ben Lowry on the diex projector—a new invention—they discover that a telepath is trying to mess up efforts to colonize other planets. Things get intense as their research is constantly interrupted by the rogue, who's trying to control people's minds to get his way. In the end, they need to be smarter than the telepath who has gone rogue, using their technology to trick him, leading to a big showdown that tests everything they thought they knew.
