Summary

"The Romance of the Woods" by Frederick Whishaw is a story set in the late 1800s, focusing on a person who not only loves nature and hunting but also how people think about their lives. The story kicks off with the main character having a dream that makes him think hard about where he wants his spirit to live after he dies, eventually choosing a super beautiful, memorable spot called Erinofka. Then, the story jumps into his real-life adventure with a friend named Jemmie, as they head out to the moors for some shooting. It's not just about hunting, though; it's also about friendship, enjoying the stunning views around them, and wondering whether hunting is really okay. The first part of the book does a great job of mixing the main character's dreams with his real-life quest to find happiness in nature, getting you ready for all the adventures that are about to happen.
