Summary

He visits his grand-uncle, Richard Salton, who wants to know his family and name Adam as the one to inherent his wealth. As the two become closer, they explore the family's property and the stories of times before, leading them to discover strange and unexplainable things buried in the past. As the story starts, Adam arrives and is welcomed by his grand-uncle in England. Right away, Adam is shown as someone who wants to be with his family and experience his family's homeland. The story moves forward as Adam discovers Britains's Roman and Mercian history, focusing on the strange background of the Caswall family, the property called Castra Regis, and the mysterious Lady Arabella March. In the beginning, friendship and interest in the unexplainable are threaded together, hinting at dark secrets coming from the myth of a scary creature linked to the book's name.

About the Author

Abraham "Bram" Stoker was an Irish author who is best known for writing the 1897 Gothic horror novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as the personal assistant of actor Sir Henry Irving and business manager of the West End's Lyceum Theatre, which Irving owned.
