Summary

"Godolphin, Volume 1" by Edward Bulwer Lytton is a tale where high society's glittering facade hides a core of ambition and vengeance. Constance Vernon, a woman marked by her father's dying rage against a callous world, finds herself on a path fueled by retribution, even as her life transforms with the weight of her father’s resentment. Her story intertwines with Percy Godolphin, who struggles to find his true self amidst the expectations of his class, seeking solace and genuine connection in the less conventional world of the theater; their fates are tied together through shared exploration of identity, emotional bonds, and the heavy chains of social obligation.
