Summary

"The Mark of the Knife" by Clayton H. Ernst tells the story of Findley Holbrook, also known as "Teeny-bits," as he starts his journey at Ridgley School. We follow Teeny-bits as he deals with being the new kid, trying to make friends, and showing what he's made of in sports and around campus. Beginning with Teeny-bits' arrival at Ridgley, the story quickly shows his initial struggles as the target of jokes because of his name and stature, but this changes when, to everyone's surprise, he wins a wrestling match with an older, bigger student, earning him respect.. The chapters at the beginning set the tone as centered around identity and not giving up, ending with pieces of information regarding things in his past, especially a birthmark that looks like a knife on his shoulder, and some mysterious robberies at the school that add suspense to the developing story. As Teeny-bits comes into his own, he forms friendships and gets ready for football season, so the stage is set for more adventures at Ridgley to come.
