Lucian's True History

"Lucian's True History" by Samosata Lucian is a funny and imaginative story from long ago that makes fun of adventure stories and tall tales. It begins with the main character, Lucian, explaining how stories are usually made up, and that his will be too. He then goes on a sea trip that turns wild when he finds strange things like a river made of wine and huge, part-woman vines, and a giant whale that eats him and his friends. Inside the whale and beyond, he finds unbelievable places and meets strange people, and the whole journey pokes fun at old stories and how silly people can be.
