Summary

"Gulliver's Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World" by Jonathan Swift is a satirical story about Lemuel Gulliver, a doctor and ship captain with a taste for adventure, and his unbelievable journeys. The story starts by telling about Gulliver's life and why he loves to travel, which leads to him being shipwrecked and waking up in Lilliput, a country full of tiny people. The tiny people are unsure what to make of him because of his size and strength. At first, the Lilliputians are curious about Gulliver, but they also worry about the problems he might cause. Gulliver tries to understand their way of life, even though it's hard for him to talk to them. This start to the story uses humor to make fun of the politics, culture, and the way people act, which is a theme that continues throughout the book.

About the Author
