Summary

"The Castaway" by Nelson S. Bond is a science fiction story about the crew of the spaceship "Antigone" who find a mysterious man named Paul Moran stranded on an asteroid. The story is about survival and big questions about life, as Moran's strange influence begins to cause problems on the ship. The crew soon discovers that Moran is actually the long-lost John Cartaphilus, a genius haunted by a sad past and an obsession with death. As the crew tries to escape dangerous space around Earth, they must deal with Moran's dark nature, think about what it means to be saved, and whether peace can be found even in empty space.
