Summary

"All the People" by R. A. Lafferty is a science fiction story about Anthony Trotz, a man with the unbelievable talent to know all of Earth's inhabitants intimately. He lives a simple, sheltered life but wrestles with his amazing gift, and deals with loneliness, working at a government job, facing taunts, and feeling misunderstood. As Anthony learns the truth, that he’s just a small part of a giant computer system, a scary sense of doom arrives of beings outside of life and death, which in turn makes him wonder what’s at the heart of being human, what relationships mean, and asking the big question: what is life itself.
