Summary

"Big Baby" by Jack Sharkey is a science fiction story where Space Zoologist Jerry Norcriss is sent to a human-colonized planet to figure out a strange alien that scanners missed. The story explores ideas about alien life, how we see things, and how humans and aliens connect. Jerry has to figure out a 700-foot-tall alien that everyone thought was dangerous, but turns out to be just a giant, lonely baby. This baby can copy people's life signs, making it hard to know what it really is. As Jerry spends time with it, he sees how lonely it is and how it's just trying to survive. Things get exciting when Jerry's team has to face the alien and its tricky abilities. By the end, Jerry understands a lot more about fear, alien life, and how complicated everything is.
