Summary

"The Programmed People" by Jack Sharkey is a science fiction story set in a future world where the government, called the Brain, controls everything in a place called the Hive. The people living there don't know they are being controlled. A young man named Lloyd Bodger lives in this world with lots of rules. He meets a girl named Andra Corby, who is connected to a group trying to reveal the truth about their unfair society and its oppressive regime. The story kicks off with Lloyd facing a tough choice during a Temple Service, the Hive is being polluted from within; a girl attempts to escape, forcing him to question what he thought he knew about what's right and wrong. As tension rises, Lloyd races against time to help Andra, battling between his personal beliefs and the demands of the controlling society.
