Summary

"The Car of Destiny" by C. N. Williamson is a love story set in the early 1900s that follows Christopher Trevenna, who is weighed down by his family's history while traveling to Spain in secret and becoming interested in a royal romance, especially with Lady Monica Vale, a friend of the future Queen. Christopher's journey through love, social class divisions, and a sense of duty occurs amongst mystery and adventure; when he arrives, Christopher is accompanied by his American friend, Dick Waring, whose past as a nobleman is made more difficult by his family's expulsion from Spain, which has been exposed. Christopher encounters a royal motorcade as soon as he gets there, which results in a fortunate encounter with Lady Monica Vale, and he immediately develops feelings for her. Their blossoming relationship is made more difficult by differences in social class and the dark history that surrounds Christopher's family, which foreshadows the difficulties they will encounter.
