"Leonore Stubbs" by L. B. Walford is a story about Leonore, a young widow, who goes back to her family's estate, Boldero Abbey, after her husband, Godfrey Stubbs, dies unexpectedly. She's now a widow but she has to deal with her dad, General Boldero, who is very strict, her sisters who judge her, and finding her place in the world. Her husband's money problems make things even harder and her dad isn't happy about it, as he cares a lot about money and status. There are tense feelings in her family. Leonore feels alone and unsure, facing the tough reality of being a widow with no money which establishes a situation full of themes covering social class, what families expect, and the problem of finding out who you are when life throws you a curveball.
