Summary

"Miss Mackenzie" by Anthony Trollope is a story from the 1800s about a woman named Margaret Mackenzie who finds herself rich and on her own after her brother passes away. Suddenly, she has to figure out how to be a part of society while dealing with her family and all the things people expect from her now that she has money. The story kicks off by showing Margaret's past and how different her life is now compared to when she was taking care of her sick brother. Now that she's independent, she feels unsure of herself and wants to find her place in the world, so she thinks about moving to a new town. As she builds relationships with her family, old flames, and new friends, she begins to understand herself better in her search for meaning now that she is no longer tied to her old life.
