Summary

"Shadow of the Mothaship" by Cory Doctorow is a science fiction tale set after aliens visited Earth and adults vanished from a suburb, leaving young people to navigate a world spinning out of control. The story centers on Maxes Fuentes, a 22-year-old whose parents, part of a group called "Processors," are taken aboard a mysterious ship, abandoning him and others to figure out life on their own. Maxes, along with a cast of strange characters like a shady dealer named Stude, struggles with what it means to live in a world where authority is gone and old rules don't seem to exist anymore; in a world that lost its purpose, Maxes tests new ways of living.
