Summary

"Nature and Art" by Mrs. Inchbald is a story about society, family, and how learning and skills can affect a person's life. After their father passes away and leaves them without much money, two brothers, William and Henry, leave their small town and head to London hoping for a better life, but they soon find out that city life isn't easy. While trying to find work, Henry discovers he is gifted at playing the violin, which leads him to do well, but their relationship becomes complicated by pride and their different life choices. Henry likes a simple life and expressing himself through music, and William is more focused on learning and dealing with feeling like he's not good enough. Their story shows how their lives are connected as they try to achieve their dreams and deal with what society expects from them.
