A Simple Story

"A Simple Story" by Mrs. Inchbald is a book set in the late 1700's, telling of a priest named Dorriforth who becomes responsible for Miss Milner, a young woman who lost her father, showing the challenges of affection, guardianship, and societal expectations that come into play as Dorriforth tries to guide Miss Milner away from the superficial attractions of London society and towards a life of virtue, even as his own feelings complicate the situation.
