Summary

"The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James is a chilling gothic novella that unfolds in a remote English estate called Bly, where a young governess finds herself responsible for two orphaned children and is soon consumed by strange and unsettling events. Framed by a Christmas Eve gathering where a ghostly tale is teased, the story follows the governess as she arrives at Bly captivated by the children, Miles and Flora, but also haunted by dialogue hinting at a dark past, specifically the mysterious death of her predecessor. The novella masterfully constructs an atmosphere thick with suspense, raising disturbing questions about corrupted innocence and the presence of the supernatural.
