"A Sweet Girl Graduate" by L. T. Meade is a story about a young woman named Priscilla Penywern Peel, who is starting her adult life at St. Benet's College in the late 1800s. Leaving her home in Devonshire, Priscilla is both eager and worried about what's ahead, as she has to learn to deal with being away from her family and meet the expectations for women at the time. From her loving relationship with her Aunt Raby, we see that Priscilla wants to make something of herself so she can help her younger brothers and sisters. But when she gets to college, she feels alone and struggles with the other students, which shows how insecure she is, even though she's meant to find a new home there. As Priscilla faces her studies and deals with friendship, she begins a journey of growing stronger and finding her own path.
