Summary

"The Laws of Candy" by Francis Beaumont explores rivalry and political schemes within the imaginary kingdom of Candy. A fierce disagreement ignites between General Cassilanes and his son, Antinous, who both yearn for recognition following victories against Venice. Their strained relationship grows more entangled as ambitious figures, like Lord Gonzalo of Venice and the proud Princess Erota, plot their own paths to power. Cassilanes and Antinous wrestle with love, and the play sets the stage for honor, allegiance, and political upheaval.
