Summary

"Virgil & Lucretius" by Virgil and Titus Lucretius Carus is a collection of translated poems that explores the depths of human emotion and the beauty of the natural world. The passages share well-known classical works, such as the story of Orpheus's tragic quest to reclaim his lost love, Eurydice, from the underworld and Lucretius's thoughtful reflections on life. Plunging into love, loss, and the nature of existence, the book uses vivid imagery and mythological tales to create a rich tapestry of human experience. These stories invite the reader to weigh philosophical questions about human nature and the fleeting nature of life.

About the Author

Publius Vergilius Maro, usually called Virgil or Vergil in English, was an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. He composed three of the most famous poems in Latin literature: the Eclogues, the Georgics, and the epic Aeneid. A number of minor poems, collected in the Appendix Vergiliana, were attributed to him in ancient times, but modern scholars generally regard these works as spurious, with the possible exception of a few short pieces.
