Summary

"The Quiet Hotel: A Farcical Sketch in One Act" by Frank Dumont is a short and silly play set in a remote country hotel. The story follows Miss Calcium, a dramatic actress, as she tries to find some peace and quiet, but instead stumbles into hilarious situations with the hotel's staff: Susan, who basically manages everything, and Rubber-Neck, a porter dreaming of acting stardom. Miss Calcium's attempt to relax is ruined when she gets caught up in turning the hotel into a makeshift theater, causing a bunch of funny mix-ups and ridiculous scenes, like staging a fake rescue from a train accident. The play pokes fun at the world of theater and the big dreams of the characters as they form the Calcium Comedy Company amidst the chaos and absurd interactions.
