Summary

"The Trap" by Betsy Curtis is a science fiction story from the 1950s that looks at getting old and wanting to be young again. It's about how far people might go to feel young, set in a world where one company controls the secret to staying young. The main character is Miss Barbara Noble, an old woman who doesn't want to use the Juvine company's youth treatments. But a salesman named Rigel O'Maffey keeps bothering her because he needs to sell those treatments. O'Maffey even tries to kidnap Miss Noble so she can be rejuvenated. Their story makes you think about being vain, dying, and what people really want. The book questions what society thinks about being young and if it's okay to use science to try to live forever.
