"The Keeper of Red Horse Pass" by W. C. Tuttle is a story from the 1930s about Blaze Nolan, an ex-convict trying to navigate a second chance after being paroled for killing Ben Kelton. The book is set in Painted Valley, where a rich sheep owner named Kendall Marsh wants to push the cattle ranchers out of business. Nolan's history with the Kelton family adds layers to the conflict, as he has to face Jane and Harry Kelton while the situation in the valley gets more and more dangerous; forcing him to struggle with his loyalties as he fights to survive in a world of trust and deceit.
