"Bearly Reasonable" by W. C. (Wilbur C.) Tuttle is a funny story about two pals, Magpie Simpkins and Ike Harper, who get tangled up in a professor's wacky science project. It all starts when the professor, a curious guy named Phinney, hires them to figure out how grizzly bears act as mothers and, strangely enough, how rattlesnakes and prairie dogs get along, leading the duo into the wild with a mixed-matched group of animals. Thinking they're helping science, Magpie and Ike try to trick everyone by using a sick bear from their neighbor Mighty Jones as a fake mama bear with a badger cub. As they try to make this crazy plan work, the two friends face one funny problem after another, running into their odd boss and his wife, creating a total mess that shows off how Tuttle mixes adventure with silly jokes and strange situations. The adventure ends in a crazy way, with the science stuff forgotten and only funny chaos left in its place.
