Summary

"Natalie Page" by Katharine Haviland-Taylor is a story about a lively sixteen-year-old who leaves her small hometown for the big city life of New York, where she has to live with her relatives. The story looks at family, discovering who you are, and the fight between what you want and what others expect of you, especially as a young woman in that time. Readers meet Natalie as she thinks about memories from her childhood, like when she lost her mom. When she moves into her uncle Frank Randolph's house, you quickly realize she is wild at heart, causing her to get into some predicaments, like bicycling down courthouse steps. As the introduction of the novel pans out, she struggles with change and the pressure to fit in, because her family wants her to be someone else, and that sets the scene for the adventures and problems she will encounter in her new life in the city.
