Summary

"The Birds and the Bees" by David E. Fisher is a science fiction story set in a future where a single machine is responsible for reproduction. When this machine fails, chaos erupts as the means to continue humanity vanishes causing doubt among elders such as Sias. An answer is proposed by Rocsates, a member of society, when he suggests that there is lost knowledge from the past; he then recovers a shocking book revealing the answers. Faced with extinction, two young individuals, Xeon and Melia, bravely step forward offering themselves to an experiment embracing old, natural ways to reproduce to rescue humanity from the brink of a future with no children.
