Double Challenge

"Double Challenge" by Jim Kjelgaard is the story of a young man named Ted Harkness, who dreams of running a resort in the wild Mahela area and makes a living as a hunter. Ted faces challenges when his employer wants him to break the law, which goes against Ted's father's values. One day, while out in the woods, Ted eyes a group of grouse and two great bucks he names Damon and Pythias, changing how he looks at hunting and what he stands for. The story shows Ted struggling between what others want him to do and what he believes is right, testing his values against outside pressures.
