"The Duck-footed Hound" by Jim Kjelgaard is a story about a boy named Harky Mundee who is caught in the middle of everything happening around him. He is trying to figure out school, girls, and keeping up with his hunting. His hound, Precious Sue, suddenly has some offspring. One of these offspring is the wild pup named Duckfoot whose webbed feet set him apart from the other pups. The Creeping Hills hold the crafty Old Joe, a raccoon known for escaping all the master trackers in the area. This story captures the wonders of nature, the animals that roam in the forest, and the questions that are answered by the adventures of a boy and his dog.
