Summary

"The King of Arcadia" by Francis Lynde is a story about Breckenridge Ballard, a young engineer, who is hired to oversee the construction of a dam in Arcadia Park, and he receives warnings of danger from both nature and local people. Adding to the difficulty is his feelings he has for Elsa Craigmiles, the daughter of Colonel Adam Craigmiles, also known as the "King of Arcadia", who is against the construction of the dam. As Breckenridge prepares to start building and deals with his growing feelings for Elsa, he's set up for a story of looming tension and risk fueled by intertwined family drama.
