"A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens is a story set in the 1800s where we meet Ebenezer Scrooge, a really mean guy who hates Christmas. He gets a wake-up call when Jacob Marley, his old business partner who is now a ghost, shows up to warn him. Marley tells Scrooge that if he doesn't change his ways, he's going to have a bad afterlife so three ghosts are going to visit him: the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. The story goes into ideas about being kind, feeling sorry for others, and finding the real meaning of Christmas as Scrooge remembers his life with the ghosts, sees what's happening now, and the shadows of what could be. Scrooge starts off as a grumpy old man who doesn't care about anyone except himself, especially when it comes to his poor nephew, Fred, and his employee, Bob Cratchit.
