Summary

"Mudfog and Other Sketches" by Charles Dickens is a collection of funny stories that make fun of life in a make-believe town called Mudfog. The book focuses on the funny weirdness of the people who live there and the silly things that happen in the town's government. The first part of the book tells about Mudfog and how Nicholas Tulrumble, who used to sell coal, became the mayor. Dickens shows how strange and not very nice Mudfog is, like its weird smell and crazy weather. He also makes it funny how Tulrumble wants to be important and grand, even though he's kind of ridiculous. The book is light and funny, and it talks about how silly people can be when they try to be more than they are in a strange place like Mudfog.
