Summary

"Off-Hand Sketches, a Little Dashed with Humor" by T. S. Arthur is a collection of stories that shares funny, perceptive looks at life and people back in the 1800s, commenting on the problems of that time. The book starts with Reverend Mr. Odell, a Methodist preacher sent to a tough area. On his first trip to meet his new church members, he struggles to connect because the people aren't very welcoming to the new preacher. Even though things are looking a little grim, Mr. Odell tries his best and it shows how determined he is despite the coldness from the townspeople.
