Summary

** "Ernest Maltravers — Volume 02" by Baron Edward Bulwer Lytton Lytton is a story set in Victorian Europe, where Ernest Maltravers journeys through a world of strict social rules and personal dreams. The main focus is his difficult connection with Madame de Ventadour, a woman of high status, and at a ball in Naples, he is captured by her intelligence and charm. Their talks bring them closer, even though they have different ideas about the right way to live and love. As their feelings grow, Madame de Ventadour is concerned about the effects of getting involved, knowing the limits placed on them by society. Maltravers finds himself torn between his desires and what is right, and the novel explores the problems of love when mixed with society's expectations. **
