Summary

"In Convent Walls" by Emily Sarah Holt is a historical fiction set in 14th century France, told through the eyes of Dame Cicely de Chaucombe. From her position in Queen Isabel's court, Cicely shares her thoughts about the queen’s overwhelming ambition and the problems that followed it. As Cicely works alongside Queen Isabel and connects with figures like Sir Roger de Mortimer, the book looks at big ideas like right and wrong, giving up what you want for others, and what happens when people want too much power. Cicely's story pulls readers into a time of royal drama and tough decisions, where her own journey becomes mixed up with the important events of the time.
