Who Goes There?

"Who Goes There?" by Charles H. Davis is a science fiction story about two aliens named Ekrado and Ronaro whose spaceship crashes into an ocean after they run away and escape from enemies that attacked their ship. The pair need assistance from anyone on the planet. The story highlights the difficulties of survival and the desperate desire to communicate a dire warning about an oncoming alien invasion to anyone who can help. Ekrado and Ronaro, stranded on a foreign world, try to find intelligent life to warn them about the danger to their home planet. They try to talk to different types of sea life, but are not able to communicate. They finally find something made of metal, which means that humans might be nearby. But, before they can give any message, their boat is destroyed by a bomb from a ship that belongs to the U.S. Navy. The end of the story is filled with a sense of hopelessness because no one understands the aliens wanted to save the world.
