The Very Secret Agent

"The Very Secret Agent" by Mari Wolf is a science fiction story where an alien attempts to gather information about a new human weapon. An alien named Riuku connects telepathically with Alice Hendricks, a woman who works in a factory, to learn Earth’s secrets. As Riuku spends time in Alice's mind, he gets caught up in her life, her feelings, and her love problems with her boyfriend, Pete Ganley, and Pete’s relationship with another woman, Susan. Being so involved in these human issues makes it hard for Riuku to focus on what he is supposed to do, making him more and more frustrated with the assignment. His connection with Alice puts his mission at risk. The story shows the problems of understanding human emotions and the results of getting attached when you least expect it.
