Summary

"King o' the Beach: A Tropic Tale" by George Manville Fenn tells the tale of young Carey Cranford's thrilling journey to reunite with his parents in Australia, a voyage upended by disaster and the ensuing struggle for survival. The narrative begins aboard the "Chusan," where Carey's enthusiasm is infectious as he befriends the ship's doctor and marvels at the exotic scenery. However, misfortune strikes when an accident leaves Carey unconscious, and the ship subsequently crashes on a volcanic island in the Indian Ocean. Facing daunting odds, Carey, the doctor, and a sailor named Bob Bostock must overcome perilous conditions, not least the scheming of a dangerous beachcomber, as well as wild storms and animal predators - all while endeavoring to endure in their new, unforgiving surroundings.
