Summary

"Darkness and Dawn" by George Allan England is a science fiction story that kicks off in a world reshaped by disaster. Allan Stern and Beatrice Kendrick wake up after a long sleep to discover that everything they knew is gone. The city they once lived in is now a wild place where nature has taken over, showcasing a world where civilization has ended. Beatrice wakes up confused in a destroyed office and soon meets Allan, who's just as puzzled. They team up and venture into their new surroundings, where they see pieces of the old world. After climbing the Metropolitan Tower, they face the shocking truth: they might be the only people left. Now, they have to figure out how to survive and maybe even start over in this quiet, changed world.

About the Author

George Allan England was an American writer and explorer, best known for his speculative and science fiction. He attended Harvard University and later in life unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Maine. England was a socialist and many of his works have socialist themes.
