Summary

"Student Body" by F. L. (Floyd L.) Wallace, is a science fiction story about brave colonists who venture to a new planet named Glade, expecting a fresh start but instead face a whirlwind of ecological surprises. Dano Marin, a skilled biologist, arrives to find that the planet teems with life that rapidly evolves in unexpected ways. Seemingly harmless, squirrel-like creatures explode into a horde of pests, morphing and adapting into larger, more dangerous predators. As the colony grapples with dwindling food supplies and the growing threat, the story crescendos with the appearance of creatures that blur the line between human and alien, forcing the colonists to confront unsettling questions about evolution and the fate of humanity.
