Summary

"Hystereo" by Maurice Baudin is a science fiction tale that tells the story of Woodard, an isolated man pulled into the strange world of Nodus, a hi-fi fanatic with a garage turned into a sound laboratory. The story looks at ideas about being alone, technology that goes too far, and how weird people can be in normal places. Woodard goes to a hi-fi concert held by Nodus, where he is bombarded with weird sounds. As the show goes on, Woodard feels more and more uneasy, like he is trapped. The story builds as Woodard gets more and more stressed out, ending with him breaking down because of Nodus's love for sound, which shows to the reader what happens when humans take technology to new extremes.
