Summary

"Gloria at Boarding School" by Lilian Garis is a tale about a determined young woman facing the trials of boarding school in the early 1900s. Gloria Doane, a lively and self-reliant teenager, must adapt to the strict rules and limited freedoms of her new school, which conflicts with her previous life. She is joined by her eager friend, Trixy Travers, and there is plenty of exploring a new location in the book, along with meeting new people. When Gloria arrives at Altmount, she finds a diverse group of students, including Jack Corday and Mary Mears. While unpacking, she accidentally discovers a hidden collection of valuables and a mysterious red gem in another student's trunk which hints at the mysteries and friendships that will define her time at school.

Garis, were possibly the most prolific children's authors of the early 20th century.
