Summary

"Ruth Fielding at Briarwood Hall; or, Solving the Campus Mystery" by Alice B. Emerson is a story about a young woman's exciting journey as she leaves home and starts at a new boarding school. The book kicks off with Ruth Fielding, a cheerful and enthusiastic girl, preparing to leave her cozy life at the Red Mill to go to Briarwood Hall, and her buddies Helen and Tom are coming along. As Ruth gets ready to leave on a crisp autumn morning, readers meet her Uncle Jabez and Aunt Alvirah, who are both supportive but also a little worried about the money. Ruth's excitement about her new adventure is obvious, and she's determined to do well in school, which all sets a positive tone for the book, but there's also a sense that mysteries and challenges are waiting for her at Briarwood Hall.
