Wanted—A Match Maker

"Wanted—A Matchmaker" by Paul Leicester Ford is a story set in a time when society had very specific ideas about love and marriage. It follows Constance Durant, a wealthy young woman who feels pressured to marry, but wants to marry for love not just for duty. Her stepmother wants her to marry quickly because it will help her own daughters find husbands. As Constance deals with this pressure, she becomes friends with a street boy named Swot and a kind doctor, Dr. Armstrong. As her feelings for Dr. Armstrong grow, the story looks at the differences in social class and how love can change people, especially during a Christmas reunion full of celebrations.
